“The Communist Party of China (CPC) would like to step up friendly exchanges and cooperation with the Communist Party of Isreal (CPI),” said Liu Qi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, in a meeting with visiting CPI General Secretary Issam Makhoul.”

That’s great folks, but the communists are pretty useless, in Israel, where I doubt, in this age of anxiety about the future of “the situation” (i won’t call it a “peace process” that’s not what it is) that people are going to listen to leftwing cant about what needs to be done. It’s not that i don’t have sympathy for it, as a diehard lefty myself i don’t have a problem with their ideas (well not all of them) but it certainly seems as if they marginal bordering on completely useless in the political sense out there. And what’s ironic is that the yare meeting with the Chinese communists, none of whom really believe in “communism” anyway. The situation over there with the “Summer rain” offensive and the impending humanitarian crisis in Gaza needs some solutions, right now. No time for commies in suits to shake hands and toss about some empty words.

I hung out with Shamus, Peggie, Rebecca, Helen, and two guys (Ely and John, friends of Rebecca’s) at Time Passage. I think a good time was had by all. 15 rmb pints–and 45 rmb pitchers–we drank for about 3-4 hours. Good time, i just think i had too many ciggies though. actually i didn’t have that many, but lungs obviously felt otherwise, didn’t get much sleep–woke up at 5:30ish 6 am this morning. Cat was attacking my feet and running around madly, sun had already invaded my room. Without air con the air gets a little stale. The plum rain season is over as of today: only to be replaced by humid, muggy and generally woeful weather.
