TC was nice enough to invite me among others to the KE center’s opening of their new exhibit. Artpedia has a pretty thorough rundown of what’s and who is being featured in the show. In particular, being a photographer, I liked the work of Tiffany Chung (she’s Vietnamese though has spent a lot of time in LA) and Cambodian photographer Vandy Rattana whose pictures of the first high-rise of in Cambodia remind one of the black-and-white photographs of the workers building the New York skyscrapers, but with more of a edgy-street photography feel (accentuated by the use of wide-angle lenses in many of the shots). We also had some nice food and drink, courtesy of Ke, which always makes the proceedings more pleasant. There were also some performances. For the record, I missed the stripping artist, but I did manage to catch a later one (you can see in my Flickr stream) which reminded me of cosplay if nothing else.
Many people who were there for the first time commented on the nifty space that is Ke, and that is, for sure, one of the more unique things about it. Three stories, sometimes labrynthine, the space has a number of nice vistas on the third floor, where you can sit outside on their deck overlooking the park outside.
