Shanghai South Train Station has scrumptious Italian meals

Yeah, if only. I was hungry and I saw the sign beckoning from the other side of the circular complex. I went over and headed up with eager anticipation. The meal that you see in the picture ended up costing me 82 RMB. At least I got a lychee drink out of it (the little boxed drink in the middle). Those slices of pizza were like 28 each! Makes me miss the nice “cafes” at Charles Du Gaulle or the Athens airport—sure its ass expensive and sure its not as good as the food outside, but you can still get a decent croissant, muffin, and coffee at places like that. Still, I’m glad that this is there. I believe that Shanghai South, like Hongqiao and Pudong airports, will slowly get better. There will be greater segmentation and differentiation. In a few years there will be Starbucks and cigar lounges and place for manicures. Life in Shanghai is great.
